Welcome to Midwest Okinawan Karate.
We are the Missouri Branch of Okikukai West

We invite you to visit and take a look at our website.  There are many reasons you might be interested in training, so please take a look and see if our style is what you're looking for.  If strong, dynamic martial arts is what you're seeking, then you have found the right place.

Throughout the world there are many forms of fighting and defense which are weaponless or comprised of "empty-hand" techniques.  These "empty-hand" methods of fighting include many different forms from many different cultures around the world.  Some examples include boxing, wrestling, judo, karate, aikido, jujitsu, kung-fu, Thai boxing, savate, and many others.  In this dojo (school), we practice a system of karate which originates on the island of Okinawa, a prefecture of Japan located ~ 1000 miles south of Tokyo.  The system we study is known as Uechiryu Karatedo.  The style is named after its founder Kambun Uechi.  Uechi Ryu "way of the empty hands".

In the Wentzville dojo you will receive personalized attention and instruction to ensure that you learn good form and explosive technique.  Sensei Klossner strives to ensure that you understand and can apply all that you learn.  Uechi Ryu teaches you discipline, self-defense, and strengthens your mind, body, and spirit at the same time.  Along the path of your martial arts experience you will develop new bonds and friendships along the way.  Come join us and take a look.
